Clinical Studies of Trimebutine (Polybutine^(¢ç)) in Patients with Irritable Bowel Disease

Abstract
|
|
|
A clinical studies was preformed on 23 cases of irritable bowel disease who were visited to Chungnam National University for 9 months from April, 1981 to Dec., 1981. She or he were received Trimebutine Maleate orally, 100mg (i tablet) three times daily, for one or two weeks.
The results are summerized as following;
1) The age distribution was most frequent on fourth decade (39.1%) and sex distribution were 15 cases in the female, 8 cases in the male.
2) The improvement of irritable bowel disease was shown 91.3% of effective rate after treatment of Trimebutine maleate.
3) Alternating constipation and diarrhea, abdominal pain and discomfort were had about 90% of effective rate after administration of Trimebutine
maleate for one or two weeks.
4) The results of administration of the trimebutine for 1 week or 2 week period shows 40%, 53.8% of excellent effective rate, respectively but not
significant difference.
5) Side effect with mild epigastric discomfort and dizziness was noted but shortly disappeared.
